The presentation of the first catalog at the ISPO fair in the early 1980s marked the beginning of the Alpina brand. The new collection was innovative but small but the faith in success, as well as the enthusiasm of the founders Rainer Winter, Werner Grau, Rolf Obermeier and Hagen Stockklausner was infinitely large.
Between 1982 and 1983 Alpina introduced sunglasses sunglasses that were very successful M1 and immediately achieved cult status across Europe and in the US market. The M1 were, of course, "made by hand in Germany".
The introduction of the unbreakable polycarbonate lens, the so-called Ceramic Technology lens was the great innovation of 1992 and Alpina quickly became the market leader in this sector.
In 2008 two lens technologies were combined for the first time. Quattroflex polarization technology provided high contrast vision, while Varioflex tinting adapted to changing light conditions. In later years the Varioflex lens was continuously evolving in the Varioflex + lens and the Varioflex + Fogstop lens.
In 2013, Alpina joined the Conehead technology and the Frame Rib in a bicycle helmet obtaining the perfect aerodynamics, ventilation and construction with a light weight, positioning itself as a manufacturer of highly technological helmets .
Since its foundation Alpina has grown steadily and is now the market leader in skiing, sports glasses and helmets. In Germany Alpina maintains market shares of more than 40% and sells its products in more than 35 countries.
