Ballistol is the most useful and environmentally friendly lubricant in the world since 1904. For over a hundred years, consumers have relied on Ballistol to lubricate, clean, protect and conserve their bicycles, machinery, firearms and more. With a wide range of applications, the multi-purpose ecological oil has become an essential tool for mechanics, shooters, hunters, fishermen and operators around the world. Ballistol's mission has been to develop an oil that can be used for everything. At the turn of the 20th century, the German imperial army began looking for a multi-purpose oil that could be used to clean and hold the metal parts of a rifle, while protecting its wooden stock and the leather clothing of a soldier. To develop this oil, the army hired Friedrich Klever and his son Dr. Helmut Klever, professor of chemistry at the Technical University of Karlsruhe. In 1904, Dr. Helmut Klever managed to produce a special compound, which he called "Ballistol" (from the words "ballistic" and "oleum", the Latin word for "oil"). It soon became clear that this new oil had truly amazing capabilities, and in 1905 the Imperial Army tested and approved Ballistol, which remained in use until 1945. By then, however, the word had spread and the hunters, navigators and hikers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland had converted to the use of this new "miraculous oil". With Ballistol lubricates, cleans, protects and preserves your bike without polluting the environment. Ballistol is biodegradable, and neither its use nor its disposal will contaminate air or water. Its natural decomposition will not produce by-products that are harmful to the environment. The aerosol propellant is a mixture of propane and butane that does not contain CFC. In addition, Ballistol is not carcinogenic and is safe for skin.
