2:1 glucose/fructose ratio:
- When a mixture of glucose and fructose is ingested (in the percentage of 1.2 and 0.6g / min, ratio 2: 1, for the total carbohydrate intake rate at 1.8 g/min), there is less stress on intestinal absorption compared to the intake of an isoenergetic amount of glucose or fructose, involving two different intestinal transporters. In addition, fructose absorption is stimulated by the presence of glucose. This will increase the absorption of carbohydrates to 90g / hour instead of the normal 60g.
