In the last a century and a half, Brooks England have gone from being a small workshop to a synonym of craftsmanship. In 1865, John Boultbee Brooks left his hometown of Hinckley in Leicestershire with only 20 pounds in his pocket. He went to Birmingham, where in 1866 he founded a company of harnesses for horses and general leather goods in Great Charles Street under the name of JB Brooks & Co. In 1878, the unfortunate death of Mr. Brooks’ horse lead to him borrowing a bicycle to get to work. He found the saddle so uncomfortable that he promised to do something about it.

On October 28, 1882, Mr. Brooks presented his first bike saddle patent. Cyclists recognised the improvements it featured and the new product was a resounding success.

In 1962 Brooks England became part of Raleigh and moved to its current facilities in Smethwick in the West Midlands, a few miles away from the original facilities. Inspired by the timeless products designed by their predecessors, Brooks England have revived the original slogan “Saddles, Bags, etc” introducing a series of bicycle bags and other cycling accessories. Brooks England is full of history, a prestigious brand that has almost 150 years of tradition and experience. But the quality and style will never age.
