The cups come with bearings installed and a sleeve is included to further seal the system from the elements and from rubbing on internal cables. The Standard Bearings have only 0.3-.04 watts of frictional drag per set, an average drag reduction of 75% compared to stock bottom brackets. This is the result of superior design including hardened-steel races, and ceramic balls that are 100% smoother and 15% harder than the ceramic competition. They also last 3x longer. Coated Bearings last even longer and feature even lower drag. Life is boosted by 60% and drag plummets by 50% compared to our Standard. All Round Grease is used in the bearings. It can be replaced for lower drag TT and Track Grease, or higher durability LongLife Grease, which adds a bit of drag but stays in when riding through messy conditions.
CeramicSpeed coated products provide the ultimate in performance and longevity gains. The patented coating features several attributes that enhance the longevity of CeramicSpeed bearings. The increased hardness of the strokes, combined with the smoothness of the ceramic speed balls, produces virtually no wear on the bearing. The coating is a metallic layer, which is 75% harder than hardened steel tracks. The coating is applied in a very thin and uniform layer of 3 microns (0.003 mm) over the entire surface of the bearing track. Both the interior and exterior are treated to achieve optimal results.
