Baltzar von Platen and Carl Munters were two young Swedish engineering students with a crazy idea: they were convinced that the best way to create a cooling effect was to use heat. After long days and nights, they managed to design a refrigeration cabinet with no compressor, no moving parts and no ice. By simply applying heat to a boiler, a cooling agent was circulated in the system, absorbing the heat and thus creating a cooling effect. His cabinet turned out to be the world's first refrigerator and one of the most important inventions of the century. This is how the story of what became the brand Dometic, a provider of solutions for mobile living, began. The company has become synonymous with an outdoor lifestyle that spans from the backyard and garden to the adventurous outdoors. Dometic also offers products and solutions for professional users, e.g. restaurants and healthcare.
