By reducing protein breakdown in the aftermath of strength training, it is important that you consume sufficient protein to stimulate muscle protein synthesis as this will be the basis for muscle growth. Research has shown that consuming 20g of protein after a workout is sufficient to stimulate maximum muscle protein synthesis and can therefore contribute to muscle growth.
