Etixx Recovery Pro Line shake is designed to be taken after training, intense or very long competitions. Glycogen (stored sugar) is depleted in the muscles and the liver and muscles are tired. Replenishing muscle glycogen stores is the first priority for recovery after extreme (long-lasting) exertion. It is recommended to consume 1 g of carbohydrate per kilogram of body weight immediately after exercise, and then continue to do so every two hours for the next six hours, depending on the duration and intensity of exertion1 .

Attention should also be paid to recovery from muscle damage. The intake of proteins and in particular amino acids (the building blocks of proteins and therefore also of muscle tissue) is the solution for rapid muscle regeneration. In addition, the simultaneous consumption of protein and carbohydrates ensures a faster replenishment of muscle glycogen stores. Until recently, it was accepted that an acute intake of 10 to a maximum of 25 grams of protein after exercise was the optimal dose for muscle regeneration and development. However, a recent study has shown that athletes who make maximum use of large muscle groups should preferably consume even larger amounts (up to 40 g) of protein directly after exercise for optimal recovery.

Whey protein is the highest quality protein on the market; it is absorbed faster than, for example, casein or soya. It is naturally very rich in leucine (an essential amino acid that plays a key role in muscle development) and contains all the essential amino acids in higher concentrations than vegetable protein sources. Scientific studies have shown that 3 g of leucine after exercise is the optimal dose to stimulate muscle protein synthesis.

This shake is a highly dosed blend of carbohydrates (± 60 g), whey protein isolate (± 30 g) and leucine (3 g), composed on the basis of the latest scientific insights. This professional shake also contains 1.2 g of salt per serving in order to supplement electrolytes (salts) lost through sweating, as well as to accelerate and optimise rehydration.
