The Fizik Tempo R4 Overcurve shoes are manufactured with an amined elastic polyurethane material combined with a comfortable mesh, resulting in increased performance and providing a long lasting foot support where it is required. The closing is fast and safe, carried out by means of a BOA IP1 microadjustable dial in an Overcurve pattern. Overcurve is a shoe construction with a staggered neck that wraps around the ankle, tracing the natural misalignment of the two bony protrusions of the ankle: the lateral and medial. The result is an asymmetrical shape, with the lateral penalties of the shoe curved over the foot from the outside in. The new R4 outsole, moderately rigid, achieves a balance between comfort and pedalling efficiency that makes it a true all-rounder. The R4 has a new, even lower profile and is structurally optimised with a composition that includes 15% injected carbon fibre. The R4 outsole provides efficient ventilation and internal channelling for temperature management. The cleat position is slightly delayed compared to traditional fits to optimize pedaling efficiency and reduce knee compression. Especially suitable for very aggressive forward aerodynamic positions.

The new BOA IP-1 reel has triple functionality: to close the right shoe, the reel is turned clockwise and to open, it's turned anti-clockwise, and the opposite for the left shoe. Lift up the reel to fully open the shoe. The new BOA IP1 reel is hexagonal, which along with the rubber finish, provides a more effective grip and an optimum fit.
