A very common trick for choosing the right outdoor clothing is the famous three-layer system. For outdoor activities dressing in layers is recommended. This system is more effective and versatile, since it is able to adapt better to possible changes in temperature or weather conditions.
Fleeces can be used as a mid layer. They provide thermal insulation, they do not shelter but rather retain body heat, preventing you from getting cold. They also wick away moisture.
How to choose a fleece?
Unlike the base layer, the mid layer should not be fitted to the body as they must allow hot air generated by the body to circulated, helping us maintain an ideal temperature.
Some features of these layers are: - Retention of body heat - Moisture wicking - Lightweight and compact - Water resistant (not waterproof)
We recommend fibre fleeces, since they are much lighter and more breathable. Depending on the temperature you are doing outdoors activities in, you will choose a thicker thinner fibre. Generally, fleeces are classified in 100, 200 and 300 gr / cm2.
