The Garmin Varia RTL515 tail light and radar, in addition to the radar, features the new tail light that allows you to be seen up to 1.6 km. With platoon mode a low intensity blink is activated which helps you to be seen without dazzling your group. It offers visual and audio alerts to warn you of vehicles approaching from behind, at a distance of up to 140 metres. This radar works seamlessly with an Edge computer or compatible smartphone, as well as certain Garmin wearables. Easily mount this sleek and compact device on the saddle of almost any road bike. The vertical design provides more legroom and makes pedaling very comfortable.

This as described from everyone using it is a useful piece of kit and I can't go without it now. Detecting vehicles before you can hear them is great. Occasionally the odd drifting cyclist too. The one fly in the ointment is that the button is prone to getting jammed if road dirt is present. Mine jammed last winter and I cleared it but a few days ago the same happened in the rain and it won't work at all now. I bought this 2 years ago and am not looking forward to replacing it but I know I'll have to. Make a sealed button garmin plz

Garmin seems to be the only ones with a radar solution for cyclists. It works quite well although it can in cities take cyclists or even pedestrians as cars.

Enhanced safety on the bike
The unit itself is great and does exactly what the garmin videos say it does. I would have given a full star rating but I had to buy an adapter to more securely fix to bike with more than the just the thin rubber band attachment.
