- Waterproof jackets are designed to prevent you from getting wet during heavy rain and storms. High quality waterproof jackets are prepared to withstand fairly prolonged rainfall. It is important to find a model that ensures breathability in order to wick away all moisture to the outside.
- Thermal jackets are those designed to regulate and maintain a good body temperature when the cyclist faces very cold climates. They act as a thermal insulator in low temperatures, as protection against the wind and are breathable.
- Cycling jackets are made, mostly, of fabrics such as polyester, polyamide and elastane. These kinds of fabrics are excellent as they have great breathability, are quick drying and help wick away sweat from the body.

have not got the chance to wear this in the rain yet but i did after 50km put n the jacket due to the weather turning very cold, found the jacket snug and warm. good fit for me, did not boil over while cycling which is a plus. happy so far with purchase

Top end winter cycling jacket
Lovely fit - super warm roubaix style fleece lined - with a water repellent smooth outer - nice cuffs and good size rear pockets with a small side pocket which is zipped for keys - worn it twice in 7-10 degrees and only need a Castelli winter Flanders base layer underneath and am very warm without being too warm - i initially bought the Alpha Ros 2 jacket which is dubbed the pinnacle of Castelli’s cycling stable of winter jackets - don’t bother - the fit on that was terrible / very tight in the shoulders and armpits and very short for a jacket too - whereas this is a lovely fitted fit all over and just more comfortable allround with more substantial materials used to make it - buy without hesitation

Seriously warm
Usual top quality from castelli.used it when the temperature was about 8 degrees c with short sleeve base layer and was too warm-probably ideal 5 c and below but I do run hot!
I'm not a typical cyclist build-183 cm and 94 kg but usually find castelli xxxl a good fit in jackets and gilets.

Excellent quality
Really well made jacket, I already own the unlined version and look forward to keeping dry on my next wet ride. Fit is excellent and not at all baggy. The size guide is accurate, my current jacket is also xl sizing and their on line guide came up with the same based on my height and weight, so if in doubt about sizing, please review their tool.

very good but sleeves are way too long
very good but sleeves are way too long , after buying i looked at reviews on other sites and many other buyers have said the same, its a real shame as the rest of the jacket is brilliant !! Oh well. will just have to roll the cuffs of the sleeves over when riding.

Really breathable and waterproof
I've just ride it twice but this jacket seems to be really good. I sweat a lot but I was not completely wet inside like I can be with other jacket I own. It is very compactable and light. The waterproofness seems very good too.
