Merida Big Nine 3000 MTB Bike
The Merida Big Nine 3000 MTB bicycle is clearly focused on XC competitions, not only due to the clear influence of the Multivan Merida Biking. The frame is designed to be compatible solely with 1x transmissions. However, it will not be less competitive in marathon events. The Flex Stay technology, in combination with the S-Flex of the proprietary design seat post, makes the Big Nine one of the most comfortable rigid bikes. Merida Biking Team is focused, above all, on weight and rigidity. This bicycle mounts the rear brake calliper on the chainstays.
This design, which may seem insignificant, actually has a purpose, both in performance and functionality. On one hand, the chainstays are structurally much more rigid and resistant than the seat stays and therefore provide a better base to withstand the forces generated by the brake. The BOOST axles of 12 x 148 are one of the new MTB standards. The greater width of the axle allows for increased frame rigidity, but more importantly, that of the wheel. Thanks to those extra 6mm, the wheel spokes can be spread further apart, achieving a more laid-back angle and therefore greater rigidity.
