Merida One-Sixty 500 2024 MTB Bike Cream
The Merida One Sixty 500 MTB is a totally innovative concept in the enduro range. For the first time the Float Link system is used on the maximum travel frame. In addition, the geometry has been worked from scratch, taking into account the latest market trends, focusing on a longer wheelbase, a steeper steering angle and a lower centre of gravity. As a novelty, the new metric shock absorbers were fitted and we used bearings in the linkage with the linkage. This new configuration improves the sensitivity of the entire system by eliminating one bearing bushing and replacing it with two bearings. It's a bike that was born to go fast on every stretch. The steeper the terrain, the more technical the steps and the more demanding the race, the better for the One-Sixty. They have achieved a perfect compromise between downhill performance and pedalling efficiency. Thanks to the Float Link system we can make the links with the shock fully open and not lose any performance. All the energy we save on the climbs is what we will then use to shave seconds off the time on the descents.
The One-Sixty's frame conveys speed, evokes a very technological approach and all with minimalist lines. The aggressive, sharply angled tubes show their personality and above all follow the same pattern used on all new bikes, creating a uniform range with a well-defined identity. Due to the fact that the lower shock absorber anchor is in continuous movement, engineers have a greater range of action when designing the suspension curve, providing 11% more progressivity. At the same time, we aim to reduce pedal kickback, as it has a very negative effect on both pedalling efficiency and downhill suspension. When the suspension is compressed, the chain tightens and this causes the pedal to tend to roll back, giving a strange and uncontrollable feeling. Thanks to the Float Link we are able to reduce this effect to a minimum. Thanks to Smart Entry technology, internal cable routing is easier and quieter than with any other system.
The Post Mount system is designed to mount the brake caliper on the chainstays and inside the swingarm. Structurally, chainstays are much stiffer than tie rods and therefore help to make better use of the force generated during braking. In addition, as the caliper is on the inside of the swingarm, it is much better protected against falls, bumps or stones that may be projected towards this part of the bike. Both chainstays and seat stays have been designed to allow the use of up to 2.6" tyres. If you want more grip on descents and excellent traction on climbs, wider tyres are the best choice. Even in the most extreme muddy conditions we leave enough space for the wheel to be completely free. Both the down tube and the chainstays were fitted with specific rubber protectors to protect the integrity of the bike. This bike is fitted with the standard BOOST 12 x 148mm and 15 x 110mm axles. Greater width means greater stiffness, and when you're speeding down the most technical trails, a precise frame is essential for setting the fastest time.
