MTB Merida BIG NINE 3000 III 2024 green
The Merida Big Nine 3000 MTB bike is clearly focused on XC competitions, not only because of the clear influence of the Multivan Merida Biking. The frame is designed to be compatible only with 1x transmissions. However, it will not be any less competitive in marathon races. The Flex Stay technology, in combination with the S-Flex of the proprietary design seatpost, makes the Big Nine one of the most comfortable hardtails. Merida Biking Team is focused mainly on weight and stiffness. This bike mounts the rear brake caliper on the seatstays.
This design, which may seem insignificant, actually has a purpose, both in terms of performance and functionality. On one hand, the seatstays are structurally much stiffer and stronger than the chainstays, and therefore provide a better base to withstand the forces generated by the brake. The 12 x 148 BOOST axles are one of the new MTB standards. The wider axle width allows for increased frame stiffness, but even more importantly, wheel stiffness. Thanks to those extra 6mm, the wheel spokes can be opened up more, achieving a flatter angle and therefore greater rigidity.
