Ninebot was officially founded in 2012 by a group of robotic engineers interested in developing new technologies for use in environmental protection and artificial intelligence.

It is a private company based in Beijing, China, which in 2015 acquired Segway. The objective of the combined companies is the research and development, design, manufacture, distribution and sale of short-distance transport products. The ultimate goal is to promote its evolution to become the world's leading provider of mobile robotics solutions.

Its slogan is "Think Differently and Innovate Sustainably". They believe that it will boost the business of self-balancing vehicles to a new level, not only to change the way of life, but to contribute to diversity in the technology industry.
