These hydrates are stored in the body in the form of muscular and hepatic 'glycogen', so that in the event of an activity involving a demand for energy the metabolism uses them to carry it out. Broadly speaking, we can differentiate between two types of carbohydrates:
- Simple (monosaccharides and disaccharides):
Their chemical structure makes them a fast source of energy. They move very quickly into the blood and cause unwanted sugar and insulin spikes.
- Complexes (oligosaccharides and polysaccharides):
Due to their chemical structure, they are metabolized more slowly, which leads to a sequential energy intake and avoids unwanted blood sugar peaks.
Oligosaccharides comes from the hydrolysis of carbohydrates from different cereals, a method that allows us to obtain carbohydrates of different lengths. Thanks to their chemical structure, these medium-length (3 to 10 monosaccharides) and long (more than 10 monosaccharides) carbohydrates provide energy to the body sequentially. This allows the body to assimilate this energy gradually avoiding blood sugar peaks that are counterproductive to the athlete's performance.
Oligosaccharides allows a double function:
- Prolonged energy:
Taken before and during exercise, it is a high quality source of energy for the athlete. Sequential assimilation energy that delays muscle fatigue.
- Recovery of energy reserves:
Taken after training, it facilitates the recovery of muscle glycogen levels that have been emptied during exercise.

Take one drink (50g in 300 ml of cold water) before and/or during training.
