This practical reversible waistcoat is incredibly lightweight and provides excellent insulation. Its 90 g/m2 SwissWool lining can also absorb and release large amounts of moisture and even warms when wet. The outer layer is made of PERTEX QUANTAM, a breathable, windproof and highly scuff-resistant material made from recycled polyamide.

The SwissWool Piz Boval now has a more relaxed look, thanks to its new colours and lines. With its seams and elasticated cuffs, this lightweight insulating jacket can be adjusted to ensure a perfect fit. Merino mesh inserts in the large front pockets ensure greater comfort and keep your hands warm. The bonded chest pocket is backpack compatible and provides enough space to store a map.

The virgin wool used for loden is produced locally in Switzerland. SwissWool has set up collection stations specifically for this purpose in many Swiss-Alp valleys, some of which of very remote, guaranteeing a fair price for raw wool. This has led to a resurgence in sheep farming and wool production, which are often quite unprofitable activities. After raw wool has been weighed, it is washed, then processed. The unique design and functionality is therefore delivered by Ortovox as the finished product is being manufactured.

Merino wool is one of the most highly esteemed fabrics thanks to its high quality and features. Merino wool is mainly derived from Merino sheep that originate from New Zealand. Although this breed of sheep can be found in most parts of the world, merino wool is collected from sheep native to New Zealand. The difference between these Merino sheep and those found elsewhere in the world lies in their skin, which is thicker to protect them against extreme weather conditions. Given the fineness of the fibre, merino wool is much more pleasant on the skin. The wide diameter of the fibre of standard wool often irritates dead skin cells, while merino wool has the opposite effect. This explains why merino wool is much less irritant.
