Do you want to know more about carabiners and climbing tapes?

In Deporvillage we have a wide variety of climbing ropes , but as in the other elements of climbing safety it is necessary to know how to use them. For this, the first thing we must know is the certification of them, given that each model must comply with a legal safety regulation before it can be sold.

The climbing ropes can be divided into three classifications: static, semi-static and dynamic. Each one has a different use and a different and equal subclassification.

Static ropes: They are used to climb and climb weights and should never be used for climbing and securing. They are just used in mountain.

Semi-static strings : Their elongation percentage does not exceed 5%, making them almost static. They are usually used for vertical insurance and progress in the mountains. If they are well approved, their diameter ranges from 9 to 16 mm. They are not used to climb, only to climb, a thing that neither fixed nor dynamic strings allow. They are not useful to assure given that, in case of fall, the braking of the climber would be abrupt and sudden being able to cause serious damages in delicate zones like the back and the cervical ones. They are divided into two types:

- Type A : Rescue professionals use them and they are the most resistant. They resist 22 kN by means of traction, 15 kN with knot in insurer of 8 and 5 successive falls with 100 kg.

- Type B : They are used in small groups of caving, canyoning and climbing of high mountain or Big Wall. They resist 18 kN by means of traction, 12 kN with knot in insurer of 8 and 5 successive falls with 80 kg.

Dynamic ropes: are used to ensure climbing and mountaineering . Its high percentage of elongation absorbs and cushions the fall. They are divided into three approved types that are important to differentiate why each string must be used for what is approved :

- Simple strings: Its most common use is sport climbing or wall climbing thanks to the ease with which it goes through the carabiners. Its elongation in fall must be 40% in its first fall, its static elongation must be less than 10% and the maximum impact force is 12 kN in fall with 80 kG. They come with the marked center to know where to bend them to practice abseiling and they can be treated with water repellency, but it is not obligatory. They are marked with a one inside a circle.

- Ropes for double use: They are used in mountaineering and two ropes (approved for double use) must be used to make sure. Their diameter is smaller than that of the simple ones and they are used alternating in the insurance. Almost all ropes of this type are treated with water repellency for use in the mountains. They are marked with 1/2 inside a circle.

- Twin ropes: Of the dynamic ropes are those with the smallest diameter and you always have to use two ropes to secure. Unlike the doubles, they do not alternate in the insurance: The two are mingled. They are marked with two interlaced rings.
