Rucksacks and bags are an essential part of the outdoor material, both for short outings of a few hours and for long trips. When choosing your rucksack, it is important to consider factors such as size, capacity, construction and format.
It is important to bear in mind the use the rucksack will have, since from here we can determine the capacity, which is measured in litres, that we need. We must always choose a rucksack that is comfortable, since we will spend lots of time with it on our backs and what would be ideal would be not to notice it. For short outings, rucksacks from 0 to 20 litres or a little larger are recommended depending on the material to be transported. For a two-day walk, we recommend choosing between 20 and 45 litres, and for longer trips, more than 45 litres (depending on the load).
There are also rucksacks designed for travelling athletes with between 80 and 140 litres capacity. This type of rucksacks and bags have a sporty design but they are not recommended to be used during mountain sports.
Other elements to take into account in a rucksack are the frame and the hip belt. The frame is the part that supports and transfers the load to the belt, so that good rigidity is required. Many brands incorporate breathable materials in the frame, such as mesh or netting, for better ventilation of the back. The hip belt is the most important element in a backpack, since it transfers 80% of the weight of the load to the hips. It is recommended that the belt be wide and comfortable so that it adapts perfectly to the body.
Some brands make backpacks designed specifically for women, which offer a shorter size, with the belt adapted to the hip and straps that do not disturb the chest.
Bags, unlike the backpacks, are hung from the body with a handle, and are designed for transporting material or clothes. Some models are manufactured with waterproof and resistant fabrics to extend their durability.
Water bags allow water to be transported safely. They are made of waterproof and tear-resistant materials. They incorporate a valve for better control of the water outlet. They are an alternative to metal or plastic water bottles, because once empty, these bags can be rolled up and hardly take up space inside the luggage.
In the bags and backpacks section you will also find baby carriers, ideal for day trips with children, and accessories, for greater protection of your backpack.
