Mountaineers love to feel the power of the elements. But they also seek to protect themselves from them. That is why plush is the fabric par excellence for mountain sports. It provides good insulation to retain core body heat, but also helps to evacuate sweat to prevent body cooling. SALEWA has developed its own plush, Polarlite, from synthetic microfibres. It is particularly light and quick drying, offers fantastic heat retention and can be compressed to take up little space in the backpack. SALEWA uses Polarlite in different weights according to the principle of 'body mapping' technology to provide warmth to the parts of the body that need it most. Plush is very versatile. Polarlite is used to make plush jackets, as an inner lining for softshell and hardshell jackets and as a base layer, as it can be worn in contact with the skin. In addition, Polarlite is tough and easy to care for.

PrimaLoft was created for superior insulation performance. Here are the characteristics of PrimaLoft that make it different from other synthetic insulators: Warmer: Patented blend of small diameter fibers retain more air for better insulation. Drier: Special finish and small diameter fibers make it water resistant. Softer: Finer diameter fibres and a patented finish make PrimaLoft a very soft insulator. More compact: Thinner diameter fibres allow the PrimaLoft insulation to be compacted to take up much less space.
