The Salewa Sternai Tirol jacket for women is designed to adapt to the movements we make in the mountains. It offers you lightness and thermoregulation heat when you need it thanks to the synthetic insulation with Tirol Wool Responsive inside a ripstop nylon layer. The bluesign approved outer fabric is treated with a durable waterproof finish (DWR) to protect against wind, rain, and snow. In addition, the strong Durastretch panels on the sleeves give it even more breathability.

The Sternai has a hybrid construction that adapts to the shape of the body to specifically assemble each area during high-octane activities at low temperatures. The 60g insulating filling of Tyrolean Wool Responsive retains heat when wet. Tyrol Wool was developed together with the Tyrolean mountain rescue team and is obtained from alpine sheep. The patented Responsive technology, which regulates temperature, uses synthetic threads loaded with thermoreactive minerals that recycle the infrared energy and return it to the body to stimulate the microcirculation of the blood. These unique properties are retained throughout the life cycle of the garment and do not wear out.

The Sternai takes its name from the mountain with the same name (Cima Sternai, in Italian; Hintere Eggenspitze, in German) in the Ortles, in the Italian Alps. Includes a fitted Durastretch hood, two outside zip pockets and a full-length wind flap behind the front zip. In addition, this jacket can easily be worn under thicker clothing and can be stored in the small integrated compression bag.

Durastretch is a patented abrasion resistant fabric. It is used to make sturdy jackets and vests, trousers and shorts, reinforcing knees and side inserts, as well as in the manufacture of gloves for alpine climbing, trekking and hiking. Its weight is also very light and surprisingly comfortable. Durastretch materials are made from nylon (polyamide) with a high stretch content. They are lightweight and comfortable yet highly abrasion-resistant. Durastretch is available in a wide range of 2-way stretch and 4-way stretch versions. It is breathable and can be treated with a DWR finish to make it water-repellent. Most of the Durastretch fabrics we use in this collection are suitable for all four seasons because their inner structure eliminates sweat quickly. Durastretch fabrics make high-quality mountaineering apparel.

The Tyrolean mountain sheep have a narrow, woolly head and long ears that reach the ends of their mouths. According to the website of the association of sheep breeders, which contains very interesting data, these sheep can weigh between 70 and 130 kg and are agile climbers thanks to their strong ankles and closed hooves with a firm grip; extremely useful characteristics for mountain sheep. In addition, they have a high breeding rate and produce a white fine wool.
