The company is the third generation of the family business Mittelstand. Schwalbe produce a wide range of tyres for different vehicles, but are best known for their travel, tourism and public services tyres.
Schwalbe also manufacture bicycle tyres with small wheel sizes of 16” (Brompton) or 20” (BMX), which are markets often ignored by manufacturers.
Their headquarters are in Hamburg-Wehnrath near Cologne, Germany, although their manufacturing is carried out by their Korean joint venture partner, PT Hung-A, at their Indonesian factory.

They were bought to replace mountain tyres with road tyres, taking advantage of mountain wheel rims. They come with a screw to attach the valve, and in general, they seem to be good quality to me.
