Scott was born in 1958 revolutionising skiing with the invention of the first tapered aluminium ski pole by Ed Scott, a talented engineer and also skier, in Sun Valley, Idaho. In 1986, Scott opened the world's most sophisticated ski pole factory in Italy and became the world leader in the production of ski poles. That same year, Scott presented their first mountain bike . In 1989, Scott introduced one of the most important innovations in the world of cycling , the Aero Bar aerodynamic handlebar. The handlebar was used with victory by the American Greg Lemond in the Tour de France 1989. In 1991, Scott began to produce suspensions for mountain bikes with Unishock suspensions. In 1992, Scott was the first manufacturer of mountain bikes with double suspension and began to manufacture cycling shoes and cycling helmets . In 2006, Scott hired an innovation and development lab in Portland, Oregon, to create a complete line of high-performance running shoes for both men and women.
