ES600 Pedals - Style, Function, Value
I purchased the ES600 pedals to install on my Cannondale Synapse road bicycle. Since this is my distance bike, I prefer to use MTB pedals so I can hike-a-bike if necessary. What I like about the ES600 is the road styling - they look like road pedals even though they're built for SPD cleats. In other words, they look great and provide a good pedalling platform. Another key benefit is that the ES600's use the same spindles as Shimano's Ultegra pedals, which means I can use my power meters with them without creative hacks. This was, in fact, a key reason I bought them, and they do the job perfectly. The only limitation I find with the ES600, like any single-sided pedal but more so than the Ultegra R8000s, is that it's sometimes a challenge to get the pedal in the proper position to clip in. But this is a more of an annoyance in city stop-and-go riding, not on the open road, which is where I spend most of my time. So, I can totally recommend the ES600 if you're looking for stylish SPD MTB pedals for your road bike, that will also integrate with a particular brand of power meter pedals. Of course, purchasing them from Deporvillage - where I purchase almost all my cycling products - was effortless, fast and affordable.
