Do you want to know more about our ski products?

In Deporvillage we have a wide range of ski products to equip you with everything you need and enjoy the snow. From textile to equipment, accessories and security elements.

The textile is divided between base layers or first layers, such as t-shirts , second layers, such as some thermal jackets and polar linings , and waterproof third layers, windbreaks and softshell.

How to choose ski clothes?

First layer

It is the first protection our skin has. Its function is to evacuate the sweat to keep us dry and avoid that the sensation of humidity makes us feel cold. For this layer, synthetic fibers such as polyester or polypropylene are often used, although warm merino wool is also used. In any case, we do not recommend cotton for this layer because it gets wet quickly and takes a long time to dry.

Thus, the first layers must fulfill the following functions:

- Drainage of sweat and moisture.

- Retention of heat (in the case of thermal layers).

- Breathable.

- Antiallergic.

In general, these layers are adjusted to the body without tightening so that we have freedom of movement.

Second layer

It is the layer that we put on top of the base layer. In this case, they are garments that must isolate us thermally. That is, they do not provide us with heat, but they retain the energy generated by ourselves to prevent us from getting cold. In addition, these layers contribute to evacuate sweat. To fulfill this function, there are a lot of fibers, both synthetic and natural, in the market, but the best known are Polartec and PrimaLoft .

To choose this garment, we will look at the thickness of the fiber. In particular, the polar linings that are usually classified by this thickness (100, 200 and 300 gr / cm2). As for its adjustment, the second layer is looser than the first to have a good ventilation thanks to the circulation of the hot air generated by the body. This characteristic keeps the body at an appropriate temperature.

Examples of second layers are:

- Polar fleece or lining (better to use fibers: lighter, more breathable).

- Feathers (only to be used for rest or when very quiet activities are carried out.The feather retains moisture and does not perspire).

- Synthetic fiber jackets (PrimaLoft).

Some of the characteristics of these layers are:

- Retention of body heat.

- Sweat evacuation.

- Weight and volume very reduced.

- Water repellency (not waterproof).

Third layer

This layer has basically three functions. The first is to protect us from the rain (waterproof), the second, to protect us from the wind and the third to contribute to the evacuation of sweat. Following this distribution, we can classify them as follows:

- Waterproof : They are fabrics that do not let the rain pass and if, in addition, they allow the evacuation of the sweat, they fulfill this function perfectly. The best known technology with these characteristics is Gore-Tex , but more and more brands are introducing their own fabrics capable of fulfilling these characteristics. In spite of everything, the breathable concept in these layers must be treated with care, since a waterproof jacket, if you sweat a lot, will always retain some moisture inside. As added features, these membranes are usually resistant to abrasions and tears. It is important that the seams are heat sealed to prevent water seepage.

- Windbreaker : This function aims to prevent air from entering the interior and cooling us down. Garments with this feature are not waterproof, although some are treated to repel water. They tend to be more breathable than waterproof garments and the best-known manufacturer of these garments is Windstopper .

- Softshell : This type of garments has become fashionable for some time. It is a mixture between polar fabric and windproof membrane. This concept aims to reduce the number of layers and, therefore, the added weight. They are not usually waterproof although they are treated to repel water.

In this section you will also find all the necessary protections for skiing. From helmets , to protections .
