Smartwool Skiing

Smartwool started making socks in 1994 with the aim of being able to ski longer without cold toes. It was then that they discovered the advantages of Merino wool as a high performance fabric. It was soft (softer than any wool they had ever felt), moisture wicking, thermo-regulating (warms when cold and cools when hot), sustainable and odour neutralising, helping to keep feet dry, comfortable and warmer for longer than the synthetic socks they wore at the time. They were the first outdoor company to manufacture high performance Merino wool ski socks, revolutionising the category and forever changing the way outdoor enthusiasts viewed their feet.
