SunRace

SunRace was founded in Taiwan in 1972, initially manufacturing basic range components. The boom in mountain bike sales resulted in rapid expansion. Twenty-five years later, it became clear that growth would only be possible by manufacturing higher-level components.

This process accelerated after SunRace bought the Sturmey-Archer gear supplier in 2000. The purchase of Sturmey-Archer meant that SunRace now had a strong presence in Europe with its sales and distribution division in the Netherlands. Supplying to the European market demanded even higher specifications that resulted in large investments in engineering, research and development.

SunRace products are now specified by the world’s leading bicycle manufacturers and are also widely used in the aftermarket. In addition to its extensive catalogue, SunRace also offer their experience and collaboration to many bicycle manufacturers in order to create customised products. This wide range has helped SunRace become a major player in the bicycle industry around the world.
