The North Face works with GORE-TEX to offer the most innovative and high performing waterproof, windproof and breathable materials in the market. GORE-TEX fabrics are textile industry leading with their breathable, water-repellent, durable and wind-resistant protection. The GORE-TEX membrane is totally impenetrable for water, hail and snow, but it allows sweat to escape from the inside. This is down to the size of the fairly small pores, which are too small for water to get in, but large enough for sweat to escape.
